학생분은 미국에서 오신지 얼마 안 되셨고 한국어 레벨은 beginner 이셨습니다. 그래서 level 2 책을 골라서 자기소개 표현을 공부해 보았습니다. 이름, 직업, 나이 표현들을 공부했는데, 표현 문장들을 발음하고 이들을계속 말해보는 연습을 했습니다. 앞으로 이 자기소개 표현들을 말할 목표 때문에 성취감이 느껴지는 시간이었습니다.

I like the 1:1 tutoring sessions because you can focus on the points you need to improve. Also the flexibility of the classes is nice, I can book a class whenever I have time to go so it is convenient for me.

I've studied a lot on my own, so I can recognise a lot of vocabulary, grammar and conjugations. However putting it into use is hard, which is why I wanted to come here, and believe me when I say it was exactly what I needed. Like talking to a patient friend who helps you out and teaches you new things at the same time. I'd suggest giving it a try.

I have a suggestion to improve (1) The talking menu provided and it is useful if it is less crowded. if more crowded and noisy (on weekend), it is better to encourage playing some type of table games by having 2 teams/table. (2) Announcement while switching the table is not loud enough, also need a clear announcement to play games as said above or continue discussion topics on the menu. (3) Some guys stick with the same table and not switching tables, which need to be monitored or encouraged if point 1 above followed.

I like to come here, GSM. I can feel more free and meet lots of people from various nationalities and divers cultural backgrounds. It is so fun to have conversation and share ideas with people. Yesterday was really good! I really enjoyed yesterday's meet up! Thesedays, there are many people come to GSM and I can have more chance to meet good people and meet new friends as well! I met new friend yesterday, and we had good talk and we already had a plan to come to the GSM for Saturday as well! For many reasons, I can feel more happy to come to the GSM than before :)

The people there are very friendly and open. However since many of them already know each other as a new person joining the group it feels a little awkward at the beginning. Also because you don’t know where to sit. But I think you just have to sit anywhere and try to join the conversation. As soon as you speak with the others it’s very fun. Also because you hangout together after the Pub Party.

코로나 사태가 다시 안 좋게 흘러가서 그런지 토요일인데도 그리 많은 사람이 오지는 않았습니다. 특히 외국인이 더 적었던 것 같습니다. 제가 앉은 테이블은 한국인밖에 없었지만 언어교환에 오랫동안 참여한 사람들이 제법 있어 자연스럽게 영어로 대화하는 분위기를 만들어주었고, 편안하게 말을 나눌 수 있도록 이끌어주었습니다. 한국인들과 영어로 대화하는 것은 말이 너무 빠르지도 않고 대부분 우리가 알아들을 수 있는 어휘를 사용하기 때문에 영어에 접근하기가 더 쉬운 것 같습니다. 거리낌 없이 영어로 대화할 수 있어서 좋았습니다.

It's always good to make new friends and get the bargain that is Global Seoul Mates. My recommendation would be that you have maybe something like board game tables? Often people are nervous around new people and a quick 5 minute board game would be a lot of fun.

It’s a nice setup to meet people and practice different languages. I loved it, my tutor was really good and kind and a lots of fun! I get to choose how I want to learn, and I chose to use conversation so my tutor could correct me while we converse, so I had a lot of fun and learned a lot! I can only recommend people to do this, if they want to learn Korean.

Friendly environment is a reason I would say for people to come and try this program! Sophie is a very nice host. She is helpful. She tries to translate when people don't understand language. A staff at a bar is also nice. Due to Corona, less people joined this time still it was good because I could have more chance to speak.

I visited the meetup for the first time in 3 years since I came back to Korea the last time. It seems that the location has been relocated to a new place, which looks more clean and organized. Staffs did the temperature check upon arrival and helped us with check-in. Since it's considered a first time visit, it would have been much appreciated if they could walk me through how it works there. Nevertheless, people were friendly so I was able to get around there and enjoy the meetup yesterday. You can also choose either a complimentary alcohol or two non-alcohol drinks. What was different from the last time was that they have added a new system that swaps groups of table after 1 or 2 hours if I'm not mistaken. I don't know what criteria they applied to swap tables. They probably swapped tables by level of learning language proficiency, which means there are different levels in every table. But this is based on my pure assumption. I would like to revisit next time. Thank you for organizing this meetup.
